Tareque Masud Film Week kicks off in Dhaka

The “Tareque Masud Film Week” kicked off on Friday at the Institute of Information and Communications Technology at Dhanmondi in Dhaka. Digital Life has organized the event commemorating the renowned filmmaker, Tareque Masud. The weeklong film festival opened with the screening of Tareque Masud’s Muktir Gaan, while Ontorjatra was screened on Saturday. Renowned actor, director and activist Sara Zaker graced the opening ceremony with her participation as chief guest. Among other guests, Pro-Vice Chancellor of United International University Prof Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, film director Zahidur Rahman Anjan, art  critic Prof  Moinuddin Khaled, actor and recitation artist Jayanta Chattopadhyay, film director Shameem Akhtar, actor Rokeya Prachy, film director and writer Proshoon Rahmaan, and filmmaker Tareq Ahmed were present in the event. Tareque Masud’s much acclaimed film Runway is scheduled to be projected on Sunday, and Noroshundor and Adam Surat are slated for Monday. The festival will end with the screening of Matir Moina, for which he won a number of awards international awards. The internationally acclaimed filmmaker died in a fatal road accident on the Dhaka-Aricha highway on 13 August 2011, while returning to Dhaka from Manikganj after visiting a filming location.
